As a water-soluble non-ionic homopolymer of Vinylpyrrolidone, it can be characterized as a film former, but can also act as a thickener. It is suitable for water-based formulations, such as hair gel, and provides a high degree of clarity. It provides a hard, glossy, and transparent film. Its lower molecular weight makes it the best choice where viscosity is critical in applications, such as in pump sprays.
