Is an environmentally friendly potassium based anti-icing and deicing fluid. When IceAway is applied before the start of a light snow or ice event, it prevents frozen precipitation from accumulating on road or walkway surfaces. IceAway does not readily evaporate and can be applied several hours before the expected snowfall without any loss in its effectiveness. During heavy snowfall conditions, repeat applications of IceAway can eliminate the accumulation of snow and ice during the storm and provide a continuous safe surface for vehicular or foot traffic. IceAway is extremely effective during the heaviest snowfall conditions. During heavy snowstorms, applications of IceAway, in combination with plowing or shoveling, will help prevent snow and ice from bonding to the road or walkway surface. This will significantly reduce the effort required to plow or shovel snow and ice from the surfaces. IceAway will reduce the need to chop bonded snow or ice from critical surfaces. Using common landscaping spray equipment, the operator has complete control and extreme precision during the application process. The rotary or drop spreaders typically used with solid deicers must scatter the material well beyond the desired treatment area in order to get complete coverage. The application rate of solids will vary greatly from place to place. Try using salt to deice metal grate stairways. You can't. With IceAway you can! Salts cause damage to trees and shrubs by disturbing plant metabolism (water loss) and can result in loss of leaves and even cause plant death. Salt also adversely affects grass growth by breaking down the soil structure. This results in increased soil erosion, soil compaction, and reduced soil permeability.
